CompanyWhy You Better Think Twice When Using Starbucks Internet Connections… FIRESHEEP!

Never heard of it??? Me neither until a recent discussion with USC PhD candidate, Sesh, when he filled me in on how incredibly easy it is to download, use, and hack with this tool.

It’s essentially a hacking plug-in through Firefox that is so easy to use anyone could do it. For example, if you’re sitting in Starbucks (or any other public location) using their free wi-fi network and another person sitting in the restaurant has this plug-in downloaded on their computer, they can connect to your online accounts as if they were you.

We’ve all heard to beware of unsecured internet connections, but many of us just surf away with our fingers crossed and hope for the best. For those of us who ever do any work through public wi-fi connections, this could be Starbucks, Panera, etc, DON’T LOG IN TO ANYTHING IF YOU CARE ABOUT GETTING HACKED.
